Stakeknife report ’to call for UK and IRA apology'
Report into activities of Stakeknife will call for government and IRA apologies. Freddie Scappaticci will not be named in the report. Report will also call for review into policy of neither confirming, nor denying sensitive information. It is understood that Operation Kenova inquiry will be published next month.
Operation Kenova ran for seven years and cost £40m, will deliver its interim findings on Friday. The agent is widely believed to have been west Belfast man Fred Scappaticci, an IRA member, who, recruited by the Army, became one of the UK’s top spies during the Troubles.
