Andy Murray beaten 5-7 7-5 7-6 (7-5) by Tomas Machac in Miami. British number one Cameron Norrie loses to third seed Daniil Medvedev. Murray received treatment on an ankle injury late in the third set. The 36-year-old was also agitated by movement in the crowd.

Machac broke Murray for the first time at 6-5 in the second set to draw level. Murray’s frustration grew with people in the crowd moving and umpire Carlos Bernardes at the end of that set. The Briton secured the opening set, which was interrupted by a brief rain delay. The Scot was beaten 6-4, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 by the world No 58.

He had taken a 3-0 lead in the third set before losing on a tie-break. The Scot had to come back from a break down in the second set. World number three Dmitry Medvedev beats Spain’s Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 6-3 6-4. Australian Open winner Jannik Sinner beats Tallon Griekspoor 5-7 7-5 6-1.
