Inquest into boy’s ‘social media craze’ death opens

Tommie-lee Gracie Billington, 11, died on a sleepover at a house in Lancaster, Lancashire. He was found unresponsive in a friend’s bedroom at 12:46 GMT on 2 March. Coroner Kate Bissett said the boy’s death was being treated as unexplained. Grandmother Tina Burns said she had never felt pain like this.

She said the boy was taking part in a social media craze. The craze involves sniffing or inhaling toxic fumes. More than £4000 has been donated to a fundraiser to help with funeral costs.
